muchas gracias for all the letters/emails/dearelders this week!--ma, rachel, jmag, jen, and sis. terrill! and ma, the granola is amazing! my companera thinks so too! i have been getting all the dearelders, so thanks. so nice to be kept in the loop. and no need to send an email confirmation, i get the hard copies just fine. all the elders are jealous of all my love from home. :) i want a full stake conference report! and alec's court of honor--how are cousins, etc.
can't believe i've been here a full week. it seems like MUCH longer! time flies when the days are long and you're cramming your brain full of stuff! life has settled into a routine. tues and sunday nights we have a devotional/fireside. sunday's speaker was some bigwig from the missionary dept (and an area 70 i think?) and sunday was elder zivic from the 70. he's from argentina, too. both were really good. chuch was good on sunday. our branch president spoke to us (our district) in a meeting beforehand and it was really powerful. i really like him a lot. kinda youngish, moved here recently from san fernando area where he was a bishop. talks in sacrament meeting were in spanish, with a previously assigned topic--we all had to prepare one and the speakers were announced in the meeting. no advanced notice. thank goodness it's okay to "borrow" stuff from PMG. choir practice is also on sunday and tuesday nights, which i LOVE! we sang this totally amazing song at the tues devo called "precious savior, dear redeemer" (but different words than the hymn). so powerful. the choir director is phenomenal. wednesday we have a service cleaning assignment. we clean the bathrooms in another sisters' resident halls. thurs is p-day (laundry/temple/get-things-done-day). our days start at 6:30, with a half hour to shower/dress, a half hour for personal study, a half hour for breakfast, then the time is spent doing personal language study, companionship study (planning our lessons for the investigators), TALL (technology assisted language learning--with the computers), in class instruction with our teacher, 45 min for lunch and dinner, 50 min for gym time (but not on p-days), and time usually in the evenings teaching our investigator. so far we have just had our one teacher, hermana edwards, but i have heard that starting this week, we will get another teacher for class in the evenings. we pray in espanol and have learned to bear our testimonies in spanish as well. just about everyone in our district has no spanish experience at all, so spanish instruction is pretty basic. i am grateful for our personal study time so i can study ahead (preterit tense, irregular verbs, more advanced vocab). our district has gotten pretty close, which i guess is expected since we spend close to 14 hours a day together. they are funny and can be distracting, but i am impressed with their faith and spiritual knowledge and experience. things continue to be good with my companera. she had some training for her nursing duties this week, so that was a little overwhelming for her, but i know she'll be good. we also met with the argentine consul this week, so he could sign our visa paperwork. exciting. hopefully there will be no delays. this week a lot of senior missionary couples showed up at the mtc. among them were the wilsons, who i worked with on my temple shift (sis. wilson wants me to marry her son....yeah, that one). i see them all the time at meals and thank goodness the topic of their son never comes up! they will only be here for a week before going to peru. it was fun to see the new missionaries yesterday (with their red dots on their tags) and think how crazy that last week that was ME!
my favorite things this week:
choir practice, time at the gym, my shirts with the snaps (thanks ma, for adding them on), all the letters! granola! my branch pres, seeing other missionaries' name tags in different languages (russian, hungarian, vietnamese...lots more!), time at TALL.
50 seconds left...I know this church is true! I am excited to be able to share my testimony with the people in argentina! being a missionary is great! thanks for your support!
